iPADS IN THE CLASSROOM: Newbie tips

TIPS FOR USING THE iPAD in THE CLASSROOM

  • disable installing and deleting apps
  • ensure restrictions are enabled

 How to Capture a screen shot:

  • Press the Home button (on bottom) and the Power button (top left edge) at the same time
  • You will find the image stored in the Camera Roll

How to Save an Image for use in an app:

  • hold your finger on the image until you see a selection box.
  • choose  “save image” to save to camera roll
  • choose “copy” and then go to where you want to paste it and hold your finger down until you see “paste” to select

How to take Photos/record Video:

  • Go into Camera
  • Select Camera/Video
  • Tap Camera icon to take a picture/tap record icon to record
  • Photos and Video clips will be stored in the Camera Roll

How to close programs that are running in the background (and eating up your battery)

  • 4-fingers-up OR double click HOME button
  • From the scroll bar of apps, hold your finger on an app until it jiggles
  • All the apps in the scroll bar will be jiggling; you will see a red delete button to close the app
  • The apps that you delete from the scroll bar will close/reset

Fancy Gestures:

  • Five finger pinch: while in an app, it brings you HOME
  • 4 finger swipe (to the left/right):  moves you from one app to another that you have opened recently
  • 4 fingers up:  brings you to a scroll bar of apps that are currently running
    • from the scroll bar of open apps, you can swipe across to select an app to open
    • you can scroll to Presentation mode by scrolling all the way to the right
    • Select Apple TV
    • Double click Home: brings up the scroll bar at the bottom for open apps

How to use Apple TV:

  • double click the Home button OR 4 fingers up to bring you to the scroll bar of running apps
  • swipe/scroll to the right
  • select Play for music
  • select Apple TV for mirroring your iPad on the LCD projector
